Udupi, Sep 18: Manipal police have arrested two persons for allegedly possessing and selling MDMA to students in the Udupi-Manipal area.
Acting on credible information that MDMA was being brought from Bengaluru and sold to students in Perampalli, Manipal and surrounding areas, police intercepted a white Maruti Swift car bearing registration number KA19-MK-2021 near the Perampalli Bridge in Shivalli village at around 12:10 am on September 17.
The arrested have been identified as Akbar Mohammed Bary (44), of Katapady, Udyavar, and Syed Suhail (26), of M S Palya, Bengaluru.
Police seized approximately 30 grams of MDMA valued at Rs one lac, four mobile phones worth Rs 40,000, a dongle worth Rs 5,000, Rs 9,500 in cash and the Maruti Swift car valued at Rs 3 lac, allegedly used in the offence.
A case has been registered at Manipal police station.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Udupi Sub-Divisional police officer Belliyappa and led by Manipal police inspector Mahesh Prasad. Police personnel Praveen Kumar, Praveen Shettigar, Rajesh Herga, Vishwajith, Sukumar Shetty, Vidya Nayak, Deekshith, Umesh, Lakshmisha and Saleem participated in the operation.
PSI Thimmesh B N is conducting the investigation. The accused were produced before the court.
