Sirsi: ‘Konkani Manyata Diwas’ Celebrations on Aug 21

Sirsi, Aug 19: Under the aegis of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, Uttar Kannada district Konkani Parishat, and taluk GSB Sevavahini, ‘Konkani Manyata Diwas’ will be held at Keshavayn auditorium, Urban Bank Building, Rayarapete, on Sunday August 21 from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm.
 
Konkani elocution and singing competitions for high school students will be held from 10.00 am to 1.30 pm on Sunday.
 
Dr V S Sonde, president, Uttar Kannada district Konkani Parishat, will preside over the stage programme at 3.00 pm.
 
Deputy superintendent of police N D Birje will be the chief guest on the occasion.
 
Renowned Konkani writer and retired principal R M Sheta (Aryam), St Anthony parish priest Fr Denis Mascarenhas, and state award winner sculptor Suryakant Gudigar will be the guests of honour.
 
Retired scientist and linguist Jayaveer Isloor will deliver a keynote address on the occasion.
 
GSB Sevavahini will present Konkani music, Hubli-based magician Surendra will present magic and shadow play, and mimicry by local artistes will also be staged.
 
Prizes and certificates to the winners of Konkani competitions will be distributed during the programme.
