Beltangady: Pillion Rider Dies in Bike-Lorry Collision

Beltangady, Aug 19: The pillion rider of a motor bike lost his life after the vehicle in which he was travelling was hit by a truck on the evening of Thursday August 18. The incident occurred near Kashibettu here opposite a saw mill near Lord Shanishwara temple, where a number of accidents have occurred in the past.

Purushottam (22), son of Janu Gowda, a resident of Didupe Kelaginamane in Mittabagilu village, was killed in this accident. He was travelling with Shekhar (26) also from Didupe, towards his home from Beltangady, when the accident occurred. Purushottam died on the spot, while Shekhar, who suffered injuries, was admitted into a private hospital in Ujire.

Both Shekhar and Purushottam were working as masons. Purushottam, who started working as mason about a year back, is survived by two sisters and a brother.
