Mangaluru: Govt first grade college holds drug addiction awareness programme

Mangaluru, Oct 5: Drug addiction is a burning issue in the modern society, which has adversely affected the young population.

In this context, D K district administration has taken initiative to make the district drug-free district through planned implementation of awareness activities and other programmes. As a part of this initiative and in order to create awareness among the young students about the ill-effects of drugs, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Government First Grade College, Kavoor in association with ‘Jagruthi Consumer Club’, Anti-drug Cell, Youth Red Cross and Vidyarthi Parishad organized an awareness programmed for all the students of the college.

Lydia Lobo, administrator, LINK Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for De-addicts, Bajal Mangaluru was the resource person. In her speech, explained the various causes for drug abuse and the ill-effects of drug addiction through live examples and videos. She also explained how the young population will be trapped in the vicious circle of drug while using social media.

The principal Dr Shivarama P who presided over the programme and gave the presidential remarks.

Dr Therese Pereira, IQAC coordinator, Dr Geetha M L, HOD of Commerce & Management, Dr Santhosh Pinto, student welfare officer and Jyothi Shetty, co-coordinator of IQAC were present on the stage.

Pradeep of I BA compeered the programme, Krithika of III BCom welcomed the gathering and Umairu Banu of III BBA proposed vote of thanks.
