Kundapur, Oct 10: "The coastal region of Karnataka has made immense contributions to art, literature, and culture. Countless achievers have brought pride to Karnataka through their leadership, talent, and achievements. Kota Shivaram Karanth is a person who stands tall alongside great literary figures like Rabindranath Tagore," said Governor Tavar Chand Gehlot.
Gehlot made these remarks at the Dr. Shivaram Karanth Theme Park on the occasion of Karanth's birthday. He continued, "Shivaram Karanth was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, and this influence is evident in his writings. He returned his Padma Bhushan award. His patriotism, love for nature, pro-people stance, and progressive thinking serve as a model for the modern generation."
"It is truly commendable that achievers in the field of music are being honored in the name of Kota Shivarama Karanth, a recipient of the prestigious Jnanpeetha award."
The Dr. Shivarama Karanth Huttura Prashasti-2023 was awarded to musician Dr. Vidyabhushana. Upon receiving the award, Dr. Vidyabhushana remarked, "When we don't chase after our shadow but walk ahead of it, it follows us. Similarly, awards should not be pursued forcefully. If one is deserving, recognition will come naturally. This award is like the Jnanapeetha award for me."
A Kiran Kumar Kodgi, Gururaj Gantihole, Yashpal Suvarna, Gurme Suresh Shetty, Ananda C Kunder, and U S Shenoy were also in attendance.
