Tulu film ‘Kudru’ world premiere launched in Dubai with ticket release

Dubai, Oct 12: ‘Kudru, a Tulu movie produced, directed and scripted by Bhaskar Naik under the banner of Moksha Creations had a world premiere launch in Dubai in a special programme held on October 10 at Fortune Plaza Hotel Banquet Hall, Ghusais, Dubai with cocktail dinner and special invitees.

Guests Lt Gen Amb Dr Devid Frank Fernandes, producer and businessman, Shashidhar Nagarajappa, president Karnataka Sangha Dubai & Kannada Pata Shale, James Mendonca, president of Mangalore Konkans and businessman, Joseph Mathias, actor-singer-philanthropist and businessman, Alwyn Pinto, well-known stage artistes, Ashok Bailur, president of Sauharda Lahiri, Wilson D’Sa and Ronald Olivera, businessman (both friends of Bhaskar Naik), the guests of honour, inaugurated the programme with the traditional lighting the lamp. They were all honoured with a rose by Sandhya Prasad of Sandhya Creations Overseas Movies.

The programme was jointly hosted by Ronald Olivera, CEO of ZillionPathways, Dubai and Shodhan Prasad of Sandhya Creations Overseas Movies who is the distributor of the movie ‘Kudru’ in the UAE.

Multi-talented emcee Uttam Menezes took over the responsibility of the programme very smoothly in his own style inviting, introducing and briefing on the guests and the programme in totality.

Uttam’s requests were honoured by all the guests on stage who spoke with real contents on and about Tulu movies and the way the industry is progressing. Shashidhar Nagarajappa of Karnataka Sangha Dubai started his speech in Tulu being a Kannadiga and was applauded by all those who were assembled. Frank Fernandes as usual, a well-known orator, spoke very brilliantly on the subject, with verses of Sanskrit sharing his thoughts and experience. Similarly, James Mendonca and Joseph Mathias also spoke on the reality of Tulu cinema and expressed their solidarity. Alwyn Pinto and Wilson D’Sa also shared some light moments and confirmed their solidarity.

Songs and trailers of the movie were played during the event which was well applauded by the audience. Those tits and bits provided enough proof that ‘Kudru’ which is rich and keeps some age old traditions alive without compromising on the quality of the film.

People in the audience including Nanu Marol, a dramatist and writer, actress Lavina Fernandes, actor Deepak Paladka, director Ranjith Bajpe, and actor-director Vishwanath Shetty expressed their feelings and support to ‘Kudru’ and said that they will see that the movie is a hit in the UAE.

Frank Fernandes highlighted that whenever any producer wants to release his movie, he expects all Tuluvas to support him irrespective of the class of the movie. “Producers do all what is required for the release of their movie in this part of the world but our own Tuluvas need to come forward and support which seldom happens,” he said.

Shashidhar Nagarajappa said that if the Kannadiga and Tuluva groups support with 100 tickets each, then definitely any Tulu or Kannada movie will become a super-hit in the UAE. It does not pinch anyone’s pocket if they think they are supporting their mother tongue in a small way, he said.

Similarly, other guests also expressed that all need to stand together and support good movies.

All expressed their sadness that sometimes people create so much hype but in reality the movie will be substandard. It relates to some of the movies released recently. This will mislead the public and they will think that all the movies are similar. These kinds of movies give negative publicity in a small market like the UAE which affects some good movies like ‘Kudru’.

The movie’s poster was unveiled by all the guests on the stage followed by the premiere ticket release which was inaugurated with bookings from the guests who paid cash and bought tickets. Also, there was pre-booking from many well-wishers who had confirmed their booking on WhatsApp prior to the release. The audience bought the tickets upfront and reserved their seats and also there were messages to book their seats in advance.

During the ‘Aatidonji Dina’ in Dubai, the team had a music launch and lead actors Harshit Hegde, Priya Hegde and Daina D’Souza were on the stage during the event promoting their movie.

The film is a complete package of cultural touch, best scenic beauties of Malnad, multi-cultural extravaganzas, Yakshagana and other rich traditions of Tulunadu which are portrayed and captured live in the lens of this film thus giving a traditional taste to the movie.

Bhasker Naik’s film provides a good message to the society giving importance to the multi-cultural, multi-religious and tolerant people living in the society. It is the first film which shows the working style of the people in oil rigs in the gulf.

The film’s makers consists assistant director Madhu Y G Halli, music by Prathik Kundu, cinematography by trio Puranik, Padeep Deepu and Udupi Prajwal, screenplay by Srinivas Kulal, dialogues by Udup Krishna Achar, lyrics by Shreetej and PRO Sudhindra Venkatesh.

Sandhya Creations Overseas Movies headed by Shodhan Prasad will be releasing the movie in the UAE ably supported by local businessman friend Ronald Olivera of ZillionPathways.

The movie is expected to be one of the best in recent times.

The programme had Pramod Kumar, Raviraj Tantry, Nagaraj Rao, Manohar Hegde, Ashok Bailur and Shodhan Prasad entertaining the audience with their melodious Tulu, Kannada, Telugu and Hindi songs throughout.
