Mumbai, Aug 23: At 68, Shandar Amrohi, son of late filmmaker Kamal Amrohi, passed away following a cardiac arrest on Sunday August 21 in Goa.

Shandar was cremated in Mumbai on Monday August 22.

He had been to Goa on a video shoot for his biography with actress Reena Roy’s sister Barkha Roy.

Just recently Shandar had announced about his biography titled ‘Nowhere to Somewhere’. The biography was to be penned by Barkha Roy.

Barkha said, “"He was doing well. We had finished the last shot of the video. His maid called me at around 2.30 pm saying he wants to talk to me. I went immediately and he thanked me... saying he is very happy and that I made him a star. We were talking...laughing and suddenly he said he is feeling restless and he collapsed.”

She added, “We immediately informed the hotel people and rushed him to the nearby hospital. He was declared dead...doctors said he died due to heart attack. It's a big loss to me...as we were like close friends...real buddies. He was so excited and losing him in front of me has left me shocked.”
The legendary filmmaker Kamal Amrohi's three children - two sons Shandar, Tazdar and daughter Rukhsar - were locked in a property battle.

Also Shandar was very fond of actress Preity Zinta and called her his 'daughter'. He had announced that he wanted to adopt her and give his entire property to her. However, the dimpled actress was miffed and said no one had adopted her.

Preity tweeted, "May God give peace to Shandarji's soul ! This is for the one who always talked about this journey but never saw it coming.... RIP!”
