Kasargod, Oct 26: The principal sessions court here on Wednesday granted bail to Kerala state BJP chief K Surendran and others in connection to the poll bribery case.
It may be recalled, Kerala police booked K Surendran and others for allegedly threatening and bribing SC (Scheduled Caste) candidate K Sundara who contested the polls from the BSP and asked him to withdraw his candidature from Manjeshwar Assembly in the year 2021.
Reportedly, the accused bribed him with Rs 2.5 lac cash and a mobile phone. The incident came to light after the elections. As per the direction from the court, the police had registered the case.
All the accused appeared before the court on Wednesday. The next hearing will be held on November 15.
Yuva Morcha state treasurer Sunil Nayak, BJP district president Balakrishna Shetty, K Suresh Nayak, Manikanta Rai, Lokesh Nonda, and others were the prime accused in the case.
The court had issued three notices to the accused to appear before the court. But, the accused failed to appear before the same.
