Vijayawada, Oct 14: The Andhra Pradesh government is establishing 22 new dialysis centres across the state to improve healthcare access for chronic kidney disease patients, Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav announced on Tuesday.
The new facilities are being set up in response to local healthcare needs and requests from public representatives. Once operational, the centres will take the total number of units supported under the Prime Minister’s National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP) in the state to 83, in addition to 170 functional dialysis units operating under the Dr NTR Vaidya Seva Trust.

The minister said the government had allocated Rs 197.88 crore for dialysis services during the 2025-26 financial year, of which Rs 90.09 crore had been spent.
Each of the 22 new centres will be equipped with five advanced dialysis machines at an estimated cost of Rs 85 lakh per centre. Each facility is expected to provide around 15 dialysis sessions daily. The total annual operational expenditure for the new centres is estimated at nearly Rs 11 crore.
The upcoming facilities will be established at dialysis hubs in Bhimavaram, Pileru, Jammalamadugu, Gudivada, Sattenapalli, Dhone and Madakasira, as well as community health centres in Mydukur, Gannavaram, Venkatagiri, Udayagiri, Addanki, Repalle, Railway Kodur, Satyavedu, Kondapi, Kovvuru, Nandigama, Vinukonda, Bobbili, Sunnipenta and Penukonda.
The centres will be distributed across West Godavari, Chittoor, YSR Kadapa, Krishna, SPSR Nellore, Bapatla, Tirupati, Prakasam, East Godavari, NTR, Palnadu, Vizianagaram, Nandyal and Sri Sathya Sai districts.
The expansion is expected to benefit rural patients who require regular dialysis by reducing travel distances, physical strain and out-of-pocket transportation expenses.
