Bantwal: Three stabbed following brawl between tiger dance teams

Bantwal, Oct 27: A fight that occurred between two gangs a few days ago at Melkar took an ugly turn on Thursday night and three people were stabbed. The injured were admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

The injured are identified as Devadas, Sandeep and Shankar. In a complaint that is filed with the city police, the injured have accused Bolangadi resident Shodhan, Kalladka resident Yathish, Melkar residents Chethan, Prasanna, Pradeep and Prakash as the attackers.

It is said that two teams clashed during the procession of Goddess Sharada on Wednesday night at Panemangalore. The friction went on to the extent of stabbing of three people by one gang on Thursday night.

According to sources, the youths were performing tiger dance as a team few years ago and got separated for some reason. Now they have made two different teams of tiger dance. Over this issue, the two gangs clashed during the Sharada immersion procession, which ended up with the stabbing of three people on Thursday as the members of one team were removing a banner.

It is said that one among the three injured is in a critical condition. Bantwal city police are investigating further.
