Mangaluru: Central Command Centre to come up soon to provide people-friendly policing: Parameshwar

Mangaluru, Oct 29: The government plans to launch newly built Central Command Centre in Bengaluru within four months. This center will monitor functioning of all police stations in the state with help of modern technology and provide people friendly policing system which is a unique system in the entire country, said Home Minister Dr G Parmeshwar. 
 
He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the newly constructed police station in Vamanjoor here on Sunday, October 29.
 
"Police personnel are working day and night for the safety of citizens and it is the government's responsibility to provide them basic infrastructure. Under the police Gruha Yojana, the government has built 13,000 houses for the police personnel. In the coming days this number will be increased to 20,000," he said.
 










 
He also added that the government is building modernised police stations which are in various phases under the Nooru Police Station scheme.
 
"As a minister for police department, I expect peace and maintenance of law and order In the state. In the last four months incidents of violence have come down. But, cyber crimes have increased. To stop this government have started CEN police stations in all the districts of the state," Dr Parameshwara said.
 
The home minister said Karnataka police are a disciplined force and have gained fame in the country. "At present, policemen are so active that criminals have been arrested within a few hours of the crime," he said. 
 
"I have given targets to SP, Commissioner and the IG. Target is nothing but to maintain law and order and peace in society. If officers fail to achieve this target they will be held responsible and they will be targetted," he said. 
 
He also said the schemes of state government have helped the poor. 
 
Speaker UT Khader said, "The development by constructing modernised police stations will surely benifit the public. By contributing in the construction of modernised police stations, the home minister has contributed to development of the region. Police department is very important department. Because of police people are leading peaceful lives. They have very important responsibility."
 
Khader also added that justice is important to human beings. "Police should work sincerely to provide justice to people. If justice is denied people have to lead unsecured lives.When people's problems get solved and justice is provided, there will be peace and a healthy society," he said. 
 
MLA Bharath Shetty said that the department should focus on increasing staff in the department and provide apartment type housing facilities to policemen. 
 
He added most of communal clashes take place due to influence of drugs. "As the district is an education hub, drug menace is thriving here. For maintenance of law and order, no one should interfere with the functioning of the police instead they should be given a free hand," he said. 
 
MLCs Harish Kumar, Manjunath Bhandary, former minister Ramanath Rai, Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhillan, Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal and others were present. 
 
Home Minister inaugurated newly constructed police station in Bajpe and CAR office in the city. 
 
Later, addressing media persons at the CAR office, Home Minister said, "Three buildings have been constructed at a cost of Rs 9.5 crore. The intention of government is to make police stations and policemen modernised. Modernised trainings like computer knowledge, education on cyber offences and how to use advanced weaponries provided to police staffs is being provided."
 
He also added now youths who had completed double degrees are entering  this profession. "The Nooru Police Station scheme has been undertaken by Karnataka Police Housing Corporation. Police personnel have been sensitised to provide for a people-friendly policing system. Police stations are being modernised with advanced technology. 
 
He stated that the government is planing to review the present IT act and make it stronger. In this regard a committee has been formed. 
 
"There are IT experts in the department to track down and trace the cyber crimes. There are 18000 vacant positions for constable posts. As PSI recruitment is before the court, the department is recruiting staffs for PSI posts and so we are promoting ASIs as PSIs," he said. 
 
He also added that moral policing in the city had come down after the formation of a separate wing. The department is monitoring those who unnecessarily provoke in the society.
