Panaji: Tata's CMC to Tie Up with Goa Trade Body


Panaji, Aug 26 (IANS): Computer Maintenance Company (CMC), part of the Tata group, has tied up with Goa's apex trade body, the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), to impart professional and work-oriented information technology skills to graduates passing out in the state.

"There are several students who secure 50 to 60 percent in the final exams are not employed by top firms. CMC Limited will be training them which will make them employable and compatible in the global IT scenario," GCCI president Manguirish Pai Raikar told reporters here Friday.

"Almost 85 percent of the IT students, after passing out scout for good jobs outside the state and annually 1,500 students pass out from various engineering colleges in Goa," Raikar said.

CMC Limited spokesperson Arun Varma said that a six to nine month module would be worked out for the trainee students shortlisted by CMC.

"We will be honing the skills of these students for three months in Goa and later would provide them six to nine months stipend training," he said.

"The programmes are made to meet the industry requirement," Varma said.
