Leopard spotted in Bengaluru residential locality; locals terrified


Bengaluru, Oct 31 (IANS): Panic gripped residents of Kudlu Gate locality in Bengaluru near Whitefield after a leopard was reportedly spotted in the area.

The residents explain that they are afraid to come out of their houses and are forced to carry a cane to have a sense of security while moving around.

Movement of a leopard at the car garage, apartment premises, near the lift, compound and parking lot area were captured on the CCTV in the wee hours of October 29.

It was also spotted by local residents and beat police.

Though the forest department officers launched a search operation, the wild beast could not be found.

Taking no chances, the forest department has placed cages at multiple points and advised people not to venture out at night.

Residents of Bommanahalli, HSR Layout, BTM Layout have specially been asked not to venture out alone at night.

Five teams have been formed under the monitoring of the Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) S.S. Lingaraja and District Forest Officer (DFO) Ravindra.

    Forest people should catch one cheetaand leave it where street dogs are mauling children or old man recently.Atleast that might bring more effect.

    Cynthia DK,Oh Baye .I told to let the Leopard where street dogs are mauling children and old people .So that population of street dogs ,lessen .but not in vacanity where People live.Leaopard will get his portion of meat .One shouldnt feed such wild animals as they will get used to it.Second for waht reason we should feed them ?Their population is already increased to extreem.

    Like Sidda provides Rice to BPL card holders...he should provide 10 Kg Beef or Dog meat to each Leopard every day as ration....so they don't roam in cities...Tak...Takk

    Langooji USA,you mean he should start to rare leopards ?Why should he?What brings it.There are enough now and more.Better give family planning Pills in piece of Beef or Pig.When these wild animals are hungry ,no escape even to humans need not take risk.Why we need so many leopards?No forest ,no wild jungle.

    Indeed it is matter of great concern and action is needed early. It seems that predators too are aware that cities too are wild places lacking civil qualities now.
