Udupi: Gruesome Murder of Couple - New Details Emerge

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Aug 29: New details have cropped up in connection to the gruesome murder of an elderly couple on the night of Friday August 26 by unknown killers at Parampalli village in Saligrama town panchayat limits.

The body of Sanjiva Kini (75) was found in the hall of the house, while that of his wife, Vasanti Kini, in the room. The fan that had been switched on by the couple on Friday night was continuing to run when the policemen entered the house. The fact that the newspaper of Saturday was not picked up that morning by the couple, clearly indicates that they were killed on Friday night.

The couple had come home after visiting their daughter at Mysore, on Friday afternoon, to celebrate Ganesha Chaturthi at their native place. Their relatives had called them over phone on Saturday, but got no response. The ornaments on the body of Vasanti Kini have gone missing, and the almirah at home was found to be wide open. All the valuables and cash have gone missing from the house. Paper and other things were seen strewn around. The actual valuation of gold and other valuables including cash which went missing, is yet to be done.

In all probability, some known persons have murdered the couple. They probably entered the home after knocking the door. After killing the couple, the murderers bolted the front door from inside, and locked the rear door. The policemen had to break the lock to gain entry into the house. The neighbours said that they had observed that the couple had returned home on Friday afternoon, but they did not pay attention thereafter, as the couple usually remained aloof. As the couple never interfered with the affairs of others, the possibility of murder for revenge are very remote, they assessed.

Udupi: Elderly Couple in Parampalli Found Murdered

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Udupi, Aug 28: In a news that sent shockwaves across the vicinity of Parampalli village in Saligrama here, an elderly couple were found murdered by unidentified assailants on Sunday August 28.

The deceased have been identified as Sanjeeva Kini (75) and Vasanthi Kini (64).

The couple were killed in a gruesome manner with a grinding stone, it is said.

They were running a shop in Soraba of Shimoga district and had settled in Parampalli four years ago. Both were known for their generosity and had a good name in the locality.

All their four children are employed, and stay away from the city. Of the two sons, one is a scientist in Pune, and another is working for Tata Institute in Bangalore. Among the two daughters, one is a teacher in Mysore and another a scientist in the USA, it is gathered.

Police suspect that they might have been killed on Friday August 27 night, though the incident came to light only on Sunday. Their relatives who reside in the neighbourhood had gone to visit the couple to invite them for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, but on not receiving any response to the doorbell, they peeped through the window and discovered the place covered with blood.

The motive behind the crime is not yet known, but it is suspected that it might have been the handiwork of thieves who wanted to steal from the house but were caught in the act by the couple. Some gold ornaments are said to have gone missing and the cupboards in the bedrooms were left open with clear signs of ransacking.

A case has been registered in Kota Police station. Investigations are on.

First of all let them set there mindset than only everywhere in karnataka..will lead to peaceful state.. where these people when terrorist are hiding in there backyard?..let there will be common civil code to all religions.. than only everything will be straight..one thing is now clear..culprits are now targeting in remote village..instead of in city..

It has to be a non local. Police has to have a network across states especially with Chennai and AP to track cases and also to share information especially about criminals caught with money and other articles that don't belong to them.
Today Police need to have wireless contact with state borders and with exit points like railways and bus depots to catch such criminals.
Waiting for positive answer from Police!!!
    Jai Bharat!!!

DK is getting famous for all the wrong reasons. Our police have to be more alert, aware, informed, and equipped now that Mangalore and surrounding places are becoming a melting pot of people from different states due to rapid urbanization. Many people from other states with criminal background, knowing that the DK region is prospering are making merry taking advantage of the laid back image and conditions here. It be very difficult to track such hooligans once they escape into their home state due to various reasons! We cannot depend for our personal security at the hands of the police alone, we need to have our own arrangements in place!

Murders, Robberies are universal and may happen on any party assuming office.Prices of gold has skyrocketed. Our ladies due to holy shravan month, wear jewelleries during this period. Some miscreants have crossed their life taking advantage of their advanced age. Today's life compulsions force children to take job somewhere. Please read and express your views carefully. Those seniors returned from Mysore after paying a visit to one of their children. The unfortunate thing is their children, or relatives failed to call their parents in phone everyday by turn. Those seniors to serve Lord decided to live in this place.Unfortunately they weren't lucky to save themselves.some evil forces casted eyes on these couples to rob their belongings and their precious lives. The most bad event is, their life should have ended peacefully and happily at this age or little later, instead of facing this fate.

It is pity that some of the commentators of this column posting their comments without any ethics/logic.Posting some loose comments without studying the pros and cons of the situation.Even during congress,JDS rule there were robberies, murders and so on.No party, political governance is the limit/barrier for the robbers, murderers, even criminals, goondas.

They keep on preying one after other. We can not squarely blame any political parties for this kind of untoward incidents.Only thing public should respect the law of the land,Police department and of course government without any prejudice, caste, religion, language etc.Public should contribute their mite in their own way rather than simply blaming government, political parties.Law should stringent, culprit should be punished adequately.

Govt, police can not do anything alone without the support,co-operation of the public. This is everybody's fundamental rights of each and every citizen of the country.Politics should not be mixed. Now what happens is even if one poor beggar is caught and taken to jail before he reaches, police department will receive order from the high command that beggar should be relieved unconditionally.Under the circumstances whom to blame police department or govt or politicians.

Where there is a justice?.How one can work under pressure from all the nooks and corner. They are not allowed to discharge their duties sincerely. No use of blaming anyone.Only public should unite and teach the lesson like Anna Hazare.

There is a huge presense of migrant workers working for Fish Meal companies in and around Kota. Though there might not me the involvement of these migrant workers in the said twin murder case, but their presense will be a safety threat for the local population. Some of them even speak bengali which is quite disturbing.

It is shame when people just bring in politcs or religion for any thing, Delhi is rule by the Congress for over 12 years, it is the least safe state for ladies in In India today, we can't blame the govt. of the day for everything, we should mourn for the victims and if possible fight with the police or the people responsible to take action, rather just scribble something for the sake of writing, may the soul of two noble people rest in peace

Cause for all these are unemployment. If proper education is provided, proper employment is provided with reasonable salary, nothing of this sort will happen in our society. Instead of providing proper education we are engaged in unethical doings, such as communalism, ugly politics, goondaisam etc., Even it is late but not too late. So let us awake to know the needs of poor and downgraded people and let us help them to achieve proper education.

If one analyses, the law and order situation, crimes, murder and thefts are under control under JDS and Congress rule in Karnataka. Under BJP governance, the law and order situation has detoriarated and criminals are enjoying and every day there are murders and thefts...Average citizen is so much freightened and is not secure and safe any more. Even the wives of their own MLAs are not safe and are killed... BJP MLAS are much interested in sex rackets and corruption. The state of karnataka has gone to dogs and there is no security for senior citizens. The root cause of all these problems is corruption. Corruption hijcaks the system, hijacks the justice and invites and indorses malpractices and evils....as a result crime increases, law and order situation is created... We need presidents rule or military rule in karnataka for next 5 years so that security returns, Average kannadiga hs lost hopes in the govt and its administration....
