Mangaluru, Nov, 7: “For the past four years, the BJP has ruled the state. There were many opportunities to do good work for the development of coastal Karnataka. But, now they are questioning the Congress government. People are leading a peaceful life in the state under the Congress government,” said Congress leader A C Vinayaraj.
Addressing media on Tuesday November 7, he further said, “MLA Vedavyas Kamath has unnecessarily hurled allegations on the Congress government. He said that there is a scarcity of sand in Dakshina Kannada district. What action did the MLA take to solve the scarcity of sand here?
“It was Speaker U T Khader, when he was the urban development minister in the year 2019, provided sand at a fixed price through the Sand Bazar app. The BJP government, their representatives, and the then in-charge minister ruined the system. Why were MLAs Vedavyas Kamath and Dr Bharath Shetty silent when common people were suffering due to sand scarcity? Why their government stopped the Sand Bazar app? The MLA should answer this.
“The MLA should come out with a whitepaper about his contribution to the city’s development.
“After the Congress government came to power, the BJP is alleging that there is a scarcity of sand. The credit of illegal mining goes to the BJP government. What were the BJP MLAs in the coastal areas doing when sand was priced exorbitantly?
“The representatives of the BJP joined hands in illegal sand mining. They have made a facility for illegal sand mining and extract sand from the vented dam of Shamboor and Adyapadi. In the name of dredging, their supporters extracted sand from rivers. It is evident to the people who have done illegal mining.
“After the Congress government came to power, the district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao prepared a report on extracting sand and submitted it to the government. That is to control illegal sand mining. The government will provide sand through the Sand Bazar app for an affordable price to the public,” he said.
Speaking further Vinayaraj said, “The MLA commented that as many as nine out of 23 dialysis machines in Wenlock Hospital have become defunct. The Congress government has provided dialysis machines to the hospital under the leadership of Siddaramaiah. The nine dialysis machines have become defunct as their validity had expired.
“Being an MLA, he has not conducted any meeting of the Raksha committee in the hospital. The minister has floated a tender to purchase new dialysis machines for hospitals. The MLA and their party should think what they have done to for the constituency. If not, the records will speak. It is not a good development to speak lies,” he said.
Vinayaraj also said that the Kadri Park Road was developed by U T Khader when he was the minister. “The BJP MLA is trying to provide the shops on the road to his followers instead of giving priority to SC/ST or minorities,” he said.
Praveen Chandra Alva, Vishwas Kumar Das, Appi and others were present.
