Karkala, Aug 29: “It’s a healthy sign that worthy discussions are being held among a small group of intellectuals in a small town,” said well-known Sandalwood movie director Nagatihalli Chandrashekar.
He was speaking after releasing the Kannada tele-series DVD ‘Pisumatu’, based on the brutalities of civil war in Rwanda, during a function held at the office of Opera Media here, on Saturday August 27.

“Why do we have to view the atrocities of civil war in Rwanda?” queried Chandrashekar.  “The people involved in the conflict are all humans.  India has many issues and whenever such issues crop up, persons like Anna Hazare emerge. It’s the strength of India,” he added.

“Democracy should be universal to every Indian and religious celebrations should be restricted to be households and families,” reiterated Chandrashekar.

Dr Jayaprakash Mavinakule was the chief guest on the occasion. Opera Media chief director Prakash Kabettu welcomed the gathering.
