Udupi, Nov 13: Various types of Goodu Deepas are seen all over the marketplace on the occasion of Deepavali. However, a youth of Parkala has made a unique Goodu Deepa using the green palm of coconut tree and yellow siri.

This unique Goodu Deepa is made by Shravan Nayak, a resident of Parkala. It is made in the shape of a quadrangle. He has used the palm of the coconut farm of his house. This Goodu Deepa can be used for three to four days.

Shravan Nayak is a student of B Sc Nursing of New City Nursing College in the city. He has bagged the second place in the Goodu Deepa competition that was held in his college.

Eco-friendly Goodu Deepas of this kind need to be given priority by the public and the administration to prevent pollution and to protect the environment.
