Udupi: Overturned Petroleum Tanker Holds Up Traffic on NH 66

Udupi, Aug 31: A tanker laden with petroleum products overturned in the middle of National Highway 66 near Udyavar petrol pump here at about 1.00 pm on Tuesday August 30.

The tanker, plying from Mangalore to Udupi, overturned when the driver lost control on Tuesday afternoon. The locals rushed to the spot to collect the spilled fuel in containers and cans.  City traffic police and police personnel from Kaup station arrived to control the situation.

The city fire brigade stayed at the spot along with fire fighters till the tanker was cleared from the middle of the road and driven to safety. Traffic was restored within an hour of the incident taking place.
