Kolar: Harassed Complainant in Sampangi Bribery Case Seeks Euthanasia

Daijiworld Media Network – Kolar (SP)

Kolar, Aug 31: Hussain Farooq, who had complained to the Lokayukta and got KGF MLA, Y Sampangi, arrested by the Lokayukta police red-handed about 30 months back, feels hounded and harassed after a prolonged battle. He now says that a feeling that he had committed a mistake by trying to bring corrupt practices in the open, has been sinking in. Through a petition sent to the President of India, he has sought permission for euthanasia, to get liberty from the problems he faces now.

Reportedly, Farooq says in the petition that he is dying every day because of corrupt politicians, police officials and people in the judiciary, and that he is no more in a position to bear this torture. He explains that the state government and police officials have been doing everything within their command to save Sampangi from legal action, and that he has been suffering harassment at their hands. “My only crime was complaining against corruption. I am no more in a position to tolerate this treatment. As suicide is against law, I request you permit me to die through euthanasia,” he said in a letter purported to have been sent to the President on August 26.

It is learnt that Farooq has also attached a list containing names of police officials, government employees, judicial staff as well as MLA, Y Sampangi, to the said letter. A dairy giving details of  day-to-day harassment suffered by him and his family members has also been sent along with the letter, it is learnt.  He claims he is under pressure from various quarters to give statement against the prosecution case in Lokayukta court, and alleges that another important witness was also abducted and tortured many a time to make him lie in the court. He has reportedly said in the letter that the case continues in the court because of the interest taken by the former Lokayukta, Santosh Hegde, and Lokayukta superintendent of police, Madhukar Shetty, but for whom, it would have been closed long back.

Copies of the petition were sent to the Chief Justice of state High Court, high court registrar, and special Lokayukta judge, it is learnt.

Dear Farooq, Please do not take that extreme step. That will only help the corrupt people to go scot free. Is there no Human Rights organisation around, who can deal with this matter? It is such a pity that an honest man has to suffer everyday of his life for doing something good and noble.
