Udupi: Sri Durga Mahila Chende Balaga Inaugurated at Bantakal

Udupi, Sep 1: “Women are in the forefront in social, employment, and cultural fields besides discharging their family duties.  It has been achieved by them because of their interest and struggle for equality,” said town councillor M Gokuldas.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Sri Durga Mahila Chende Balaga during a function held at Durgaparameshwari temple, Bantakal, near here, on Wednesday August 31.

Temple managing trustee P Vishwanat Nayak inaugurated the first show on the occasion.

Veteran Chende teacher Marpalli Subramanya Upadhyaya and Kalavati, who bagged 95% in II PUC, were felicitated on the same occasion.

Temple trustee Sasidar Wagle presided over the programme. Chende Balaga founder president Leelavati L Patkar was present on the dais.

Rajapur Saraswat Yuva Vranda president K Ramaraya Patkar, retired head master B R Prabhu, and M B Nayak were also present on the occasion.

Mahila Sangh president Geetha Wagle welcomed the gathering.  Rohini J Nayak introduced the dignitaries.  Arundhati Prabhu compered the programme while secretary Bhavani Nayak proposed the vote of thanks.
