17 hospitalised after consuming 'biryani' in Chikkamagaluru

Chikkamagaluru, Nov 21 (IANS): At least 17 people, including nine women, fell ill and were hospitalised after eating 'biryani' in Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka, said officials on Tuesday.

The incident occurred in Maravanji village in Kadur taluk. The biryani was prepared for a private function on Sunday. However, the victims consumed the remaining biryani on Monday and subsequently fell ill.

Family members and villagers developed symptoms of vomiting and loose motion after consuming the stale biryani. As the symptoms worsened, the victims were taken in ambulances to the Kadur Public Hospital.

After administering treatment, doctors stated that the victims were now out of danger. Authorities said they suspect it to be a case of food poisoning. Kadur Congress MLA K.S. Anand visited the hospital.

Vegetables/roots/pulses cooked in coconut will never spoil even for the next day or two...if boiled properly. Vessels should be very clean. Every veg/non veg dish spoils if not boiled properly/not cleaned properly..But, veal spoils within no time.....

The difficulty with a vegetarian diet resides in its ability to adequately provide essential nutrients to cells and the body. There is an increased probability of developing a Vitamin B12 deficiency, potentially resulting in nerve damage and weakened brain function. In fact, goat meat, which consumes organic food, is a safer option compared to chicken or fish. If hygiene is not maintained during the cooking process, there is a risk of falling ill or even facing fatal consequences after consuming sambar.

We must never keep left overs from mass cooking for next day... Same day after the function is over must be sent for immediate consumption to any hostel or pre-thought location... Especially if the food is not refrigerated there will be faster bacterial action... Lucky people survived without major problems... Food poisoning can kill a person and it is quite painful...
