CEO of TV Today G Krishnan Quits

Mumbai, Sep 2: The chief executive officer and executive director G Krishnan of TV Today Network, which broadcasts the Aaj Tak channel, has quit his post after serving for 16 years.

Krishnan had joined the India Today group promoter Aroon Purie’s TV business in 1995. He was the key man behind taking Aaj Tak to the top rung in the market and also behind the launch of the English channel, Headlines Today.

According to an internal communication, Purie stated, “This is to inform you that G Krishnan has resigned from the services of the company with effect from 1 September. All his direct reports will report to me until further notice.” 
    
News channels under TV Today are Aaj Tak, Headlines Today, Delhi Aaj Tak and Tej.

During his earlier stint at Bennett, Coleman & Company, Krishnan was instrumental in launching India’s first private FM channel, Times FM, in 1993.

Krishnan has been occupied in various roles - chairman of Media Research Users Council (MRUC), a member of the Board of Governors of the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) and founder Director of the Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF). 
    
He has varied experience in print, radio and television and has been responsible for building a number of super brands and successful business enterprises.
