Madikeri, Sep 3: A woman who was into her fourth month of pregnancy, killed her two children by feeding poison to them, and then ended her own life in similar fashion. The incident occurred at Jyotinagar, Siddapur, in the district.

The woman has been identified as Prema (24), wife of Sanjeeva, working as labourer in Greenfield Plantation in Ontiangadi near Siddapur. She was the daughter of Sheshappa and Lakshmi couple from Jyotiginagar. She was married to Sanjeeva seven years ago, and had two sons, Rajshekhar (4), and Prashant (1).

Sanjeeva had lost control over his body in a road accident that occurred three years ago, and he was showing signs of improvement in health condition of late. Prema had to carry the burden of managing the entire family, but was finding it hard, as she was a chronic asthmatic. It is suspected that nagging disease and burden of looking after the family would have played on her mind, and driven her to take this extreme step.
