Mangaluru: Rashly driven truck leaves vehicles damaged – Video goes viral

Mangaluru, Dec 7: A mines truck went out of control due to the rash driving of the driver, crashed bike and auto-rickshaw. Labourers sitting on road side escaped death by whisker.

The incident occurred on the morning of Thursday at Mulky market area. The truck was moving towards Udupi, it left the main road and entered into service road as the driver lost control and hit an auto-rickshaw and bike that was going on the service road.

Bike rider Sangappa is seriously injured in the accident. Sangappa works as watchman in a lodge at Mulky. He was going towards the bus stand to drop is daughter. His daughter Savita escaped with minor injuries. Video of the accident has gone viral on social media.

Some daily wage labourers who were sitting on the edge of the pavement, ran to safety as they saw the truck coming towards them and escaped certain death by a whisker. A woman police constable on duty was also injured. An auto-rickshaw got overturned as soon as the truck hit the vehicle. The truck driver did not stop the vehicle even after accident. Mulky police chased the truck and confiscated the vehicle and arrested the driver.

    Turbo diesel Truck engines can have a "runaway diesel phenomenon" the truck cannot be controlled or stopped. The cops have to check it. If it is the case then nothing can be helped. The police should look into this matter.

    The corrupt traffic cops only target 2 wheelers for pillion helmet. They take bribe from transporters, private bus mafia. I have never seen these Cops checking or stopping private bus or trucks.

    I happend to see the video and what I feel is that the driver was rash and negligent It was utter negligence on part of driver Needs maximum punishment under the law of land

    very soft punishment....high corruption in RTO and khaki depts...coupled with unscientific road designs are the cause for these kind of accidents...i saw the video..and should say that if it was not for the almighty the death toll would have been much much higher....

    If our traffic Police do their duty honestly, we can control this. Drivers licence, insurance records, conditions of vehicles, controlling the speed, no one is doing. Jaise Raja, Vaise Praja.
