Bangalore, Sep 6: Asking Karnataka BJP President K S Eshwarappa to withdraw the show-cause notice served on senior party leader D B Chandre Gowda, MP, for publicly urging the BJP high command to entrust responsibility of campaigning in the Koppal by-election to former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, Excise Minister M P Renukacharya wanted to know what is wrong if Chandre Gowda supports Yeddyurappa.

Renukacharya, a staunch supporter of the former chief minister, contended that the former State Assembly Speaker and senior BJP leader had not indulged in anti-party activity by issuing the statement supporting the former Chief Minister.

The minister appealed to the party high command give leadership of campaigning to Yeddyurappa to ensure victory of the party’s candidate.

''What’s wrong if Chandre Gowda supports the leadership of Yeddurappa?" Renukacharya asked and pointed out that the former chief minister was a mass leader and enjoyed considerable support among all sections of the people.

The State BJP chief remained silent and did not issue any show-cause notices to State BJP General Secretary C T Ravi< MLA, and Medical Education Minister S A Ramdas when they critised Yeddyurappa after he stepped down following the Lokayukta report on illegal mining.

In the interest of the party and boost the morale of the party workers on the eve of by-election, Eshwarappa must withdraw the show-cause notice issued to Chandre Gowda, the minister demanded.
