Parents murdered for deciding to give property to daughters, son arrested

Bengaluru, Dec 11 (IANS): A man in Karnataka's Bengaluru Rural district was arrested on Monday for beating his elderly parents to death at their residence over a property dispute, police said.

The incident occurred in Sulibele village near Hoskote in the district.

According to police, the accused Narasimhamurthy murdered his parents for deciding to give a share in property to their daughters.

He had attacked his father Ramakrishnappa, 70, and mother Muniramakka, 65, with an iron rod on Saturday night. After killing them, he had locked the house door from outside and pretended that he didn’t do anything.

When questioning as well, the accused tried to mislead the police. However, growing suspicious with his statements, the police managed to find out that he is the murderer.

The couple had four daughters and a son. All daughters are married and live separately. The daughters called up their parents every day and when their calls were not answered on Sunday, one of them came down to the house on Monday evening and found that her parents dead.

The parents had given away all the property to their children and kept two acres for themselves. They had decided to equally distribute this to their children. The daughters had suspected the role of their brother behind the murders. The property located in the outskirts of Bengaluru was worth crores and this had led the son to commit the crime, police said.

Though it's not right to neglect Son too.... but it doesn't mean that he can do whatever he wants.... We know you are hurt but you can retaliate in democratic way like disown your parents, etc, etc

Dear Shetty; in a self made property, the person/persons can give the property to anyone, even to someone not blood related to them; it's the owners prerogative! Only when the property is ancestral then all legal heirs have got equal rights as stated by the rule of inheritance! Here it appears that it was self acquired property; but whatever the greivance wrt to the share in property, he has done the most condemnable act of butchering his parents the curse of which one will have to bear!!😔😞

This is the end result of parents having (saving) lots of property and money for their offspring; they would be better off giving their children good education and help them settle down and make it clear to them that they will have to fend for themselves; whatever is remaining would go to them in the proportion they decide after their demise! This curse which the son has taken on his head will backfire on him through his own progeny! BTW; one very famous similar type of case of industrialist family, Gautam and Vijaypath Singhania, is in the news now! (All parents should read Vijaypath Singhanias autobiography book)!!!HAVING GOT HIS SHARE STILL CRAVING FOR THE ENTIRE PROPERTY THE PARENTS OWN, AND KILLING THEM IS A 👿 IC ACT; NO WORDS AS TO WHAT PUNISHMENT HE WILL GET FROM OUR HONORABLE COURTS!!

I have met Gautam at a function in Mumbai around 15 years back ,he has now separated from his wife Nawaz ,after asking his father Vijaypat to move out of their house few years back. Vijaypat now lives in a rented flat. Incidentally Vijaypat had some dispute with his own brother Madhupati, who shifted to Singapore to the best of my knowledge.

I just agreed to what Rudolf said, it is better to write a will in favor of children who look after you rather than transfer property or money when you are alive ( this way it is more likely that they will look after you in old age ), in this reference the Singhania case is a perfect example, so is the case of Priyamvada Birla, and many others.

@Monty; any Will can be challenged using some or the other reason by people who might be disgruntled with their share, or with a devious reason; in such a case, the final settlement can be prolonged for very long! IMHO, to see that nobody can create mischief later, it's better to make it in joint names with explicit conditions like the gifted joint owner cannot sell the property until the first owners demise and that he should be paying a particular monthly compensation till he is alive etc etc so that the parents have a pincer like grip on their self earned property till the end😁!!

A will is a written document that allows individuals to direct the way their inheritance would be maintained and divided after their demise ...
