Mumbai, Jul 17: Bollywood icon Salman Khan made a strong appeal for road safety during his appearance at the Indian Supercross Racing League event on Wednesday. Speaking to young motor enthusiasts, the actor urged them to ride responsibly and avoid risky stunts on public roads.
“Stay safe until you enter the Indian Supercross Racing League,” Salman advised the crowd. “Once you’re here, we’ll ensure you’re fully equipped with safety gear and well taken care of.”
A biking enthusiast himself, Salman admitted he doesn’t get to ride as often now due to work commitments but still enjoys riding on a private track at his farmhouse. “I ride on my track, but I avoid jumps now. If I injure myself, I can’t shoot for months,” he explained.
Reflecting on dangerous street racing culture, Salman shared a sobering anecdote: “On the Bandra highway, I’ve seen young boys racing for a bit of money. I’ve personally taken three or four of them to the hospital. It’s not just dangerous for them but for others on the road too.”
The actor also shared a personal story from his younger days. Battling a high fever, he once rode his father’s motorcycle to their farmhouse without a helmet. “My cap flew off, and I realized this is not the way to ride,” he said.
Riding slowly afterward, he recalled how his bike skidded off-road into a jungle. “I couldn’t lift the bike. My car came by later, we picked it up, and I started riding again—only to skid a second time,” he laughed.
Through his own experience and stardom, Salman Khan’s message was clear: thrill should never come at the cost of safety.
