Udupi, Dec 12: ‘Kala Sourabha’ by the Autism Society of Udupi is scheduled to take place on December 16, from 9 am to 4:30 pm at the Shri Narayan Guru Auditorium in Bannanje.
Amitha Pai, president of the Autism Society of Udupi, announced during a press meet held on December 12, "This year, Kala Sourabha will be conducted under the theme ‘Namma Karavali, Namma Hemme’. This annual event is organized by the Autism Society Udupi in collaboration with Dr A V Baliga Memorial Hospital and Kamal A Baliga Charitable Trust. The primary goal is to promote awareness and inclusivity for children with Autism in Udupi."
Pai further stated, "Our next endeavour is to establish a dedicated advanced autism centre in Udupi, providing personalized developmental education to children with autism. This initiative will be based on best-in-class autism care practices under the guidance of medical and psychological experts."
The event serves as a platform for special children to showcase their talents, with 225 participants from 15 special schools across the district. The proceeds generated from Kala Sourabha will be entirely utilized for the benefit of Udupi’s autistic children and the establishment of an autism center in Udupi.
Various off-stage attractions are planned for the day, including stalls, cartooning by renowned cartoonist Satish Acharya, and other engaging activities at the venue.
Dr P V Bhandary, psychiatrist and director of AV Baliga Group Institute, Udupi; Dr Virupaksha Devaramane, psychiatrist and author; Amitha Pai, President of Autism Society Udupi; Shruthi Shetty, DNA Coordinator; and Keerthesh S, coordinator were present.
