Udupi, Dec 13: The director general of police (DGP) of Karnataka, Alok Mohan, granted approval, based on the recommendation of Karnataka south zone inspector general of police (IGP) Dr Chandra Gupta, for an amount totalling Rs 1,42,500 to be awarded as prizes to 41 police personnel from Udupi, Mangaluru, and Belagavi police stations.
These officers played a crucial role in the identification and arrest of Pravin Chowgule, the lone accused in the recent Nejar family murder case that shocked the Udupi district.
Gopalakrishna Kunder, currently serving as an assistant sub inspector in the internal security division and previously stationed at Mangaluru International Airport, played a pivotal role in identifying the accused. In recognition of his exceptional efforts, Kunder has been felicitated with a cash prize of Rs 2,500 along with a certificate of appreciation.
