Mangaluru, Dec 13: Auto-rickshaw driver Booba Kulal (49), a resident of Nadaje Arbi, who was injured when his vehicle toppled on Gurpur Kaikamba road on December 10, passed away on the night of December 11 without responding to treatment.
Booba Kulal is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter. On December 10, while returning to Gurpur Kaikamba Rickshaw stand after having lunch at home, a monkey suddenly crossed the path of his rickshaw. When he swerved to the left to avoid the animal, the rickshaw toppled and fell about 20 feet, causing serious head injuries. Booba Kulal was subsequently admitted to a private hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, he did not recover.
The rickshaw was significantly damaged due to the mishap. Members of the Kaikamba Rickshaw Owners and Drivers' Association led a procession from Polali Dwara to Kaikamba market, bringing Booba Kulal's mortal remains. The body was then handed over to his family members for the final rites, with the participation of all rickshaw drivers, owners, and local residents.
