Hyderabad, Sep 7: A minor girl was recently rescued after being forced into marriage to a UAE national. Further investigations revealed that her sister too had been married off to the same person's relative.
The police who are probing the matter found that the 16-year-old girl's elder sister too had been earlier married to the man's relative. However, it is not sure whether she too was married as a minor.
Those arrested in connection to this case are the 47-year-old UAE national Hilal Saeed Mohammed, the girl's parents Mohammed Waheeduddin and Parveen Sultana and Awan Bin Salam Barawas, the qazi who performed the marriage. Waheeduddin is a florist.
Police revealed that Hilal flew into Hyderabad and got married to the 16-year-old girl on the same day.
What puzzled the police was how Hilal could fix his marriage so soon from UAE to someone at Hyderabad, unless he had a previous connection. This is what led them to discover the girl's sister's marriage to Hilal's relative.
South zone DCP Vinieet Brijlal said, "It is confirmed that the florist's elder daughter was married to another foreigner. We're verifying the details and will initiate action depending on the findings."
Hilal's maternal uncle who is also from UAE, had accompanied him to the city to fix the alliance and make arrangements for the marriage.
It is learnt that Hilal's uncle was witness in the present case and claimed that the florist's daughter was aged about 24 years when he married her.
