Mangaluru, Dec 16: The annual day celebration of Manipal School, themed 'Milestone - 7 Stages of Life,' took place at Dr TMA Pai Hall on Saturday, December 16.

As the chief guest, former IRS officer, author, and entrepreneur Giselle Mehta said, "“I am very happy to get connected with the institution which has a lot of energy, always in the forefront in all-round development, and possesses social inclusive approach. Whenever opportunities are given to the students, they have risen to their potentials. Meanwhile, some students will be active backstage managing a lot of things that imparts valuable lessons in team work.

“The movie ‘Taare Zameen Par’ illustrated how a child struggling with alphabets and numbers could simultaneously be a brilliant artist. Some of the leading figures in the world in various fields have strangely enough been school and college dropouts, probably considered dull or disruptive students but it is their original thinking that has changed the world into progress. It is the contributions of these dropouts whether it is Edison or Einstein Dickens or Disney, Henry Ford, the ideas like Bill Gates or Steve Jobs or even our Indian success stories of the street smart, that other people have to study. A child possesses a personality beyond the statement of a report card. Classroom situations should equally take into account the front bencher and the back bencher as possessing complementary potential for the diverse roles of real life.

“As for you dear children, all the world is your stage today and every day consider yourselves fortunate to be living amidst peace and plentiful opportunities. There are parts of the world today where war and bloodshed separate children from education and a normal life. The times you are living are very interesting and challenging and most probably you are going to be the generation which is going to experience rapid changes in technology and the disruptions and opportunities of artificial intelligence. But through it all, I hope that we are alive to the beauty flexibility and infinity of human intelligence to do things right that as individuals we can change the world for the better in some aspect or the other,” she said.

Correspondent and pro vice chancellor MAHE Mangaluru campus Dilip G Nayak said, “The annual day has a special day in the school calendar. Manipal School is the youngest I think in the academy of general education. But I feel, it has been given the same importance as all the other schools and colleges. I have been associated with the school right from the ground-breaking ceremony and now it is 12 years up and we have really progressed beyond what we are expected. Thanks to the faculty as the faculty is the backbone of any institution.”

Gowri Sachin, a 10th-grade student, and Animesh Jain, a PTA member, shared their experiences at Manipal School. Principal Anuradha Shivram presented the annual report, and Giselle Mehta was felicitated during the event.

The formal function was followed by a cultural programme.

Mithali Prabhu and Sumanth Kini compered the programme.

President PTA Manipal School, Sachin KJ, and vice president Sunitha Rosebell Furtado were also present.
