Udupi: Absence of sign board – Car overturns, occupants escape with minor injuries

Udupi, Dec 18: A car overturned near the Indrali railway bridge early on Sunday morning due to the absence of a danger signboard indicating a pit ahead on the road.

The Swift car, registered in Bengaluru, with two men and a woman on board, fell into the pit but fortunately, all occupants escaped with minor injuries.

The incident occurred as the car approached Indrali from MGM and directly plunged into a pit located in front of Indrali school. Nearby iron rods posed a potential threat, and a slight tilt could have resulted in more severe casualties.

Confusion among drivers and riders is increasing, as the barricade placed on the divider near MGM road fails to provide clear instructions about the impending danger. Moreover, there is no barricade at the end of the road, leading the car to collide with a small wall of iron rods before falling into the pit.

The public is expressing frustration with the local administration and representatives for their inability to address the longstanding traffic and road issues in Indrali.
