Mangaluru, Dec 21: Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh, Bejai church unit, celebrated 25th year, a silver jubilee celebration since inception on December 20, 1998.
On December 20, the silver jubilee celebrations started with a prayerful note by offering a Mass at St Francis Xavier Church Bejai. Dr J B Saldanha and Fr John Vas were main celebrant.
There after the official stage programme was organised at Bejai church hall.
The silver jubilee celebration was inagurated by lighting of lamp by the honourable guests on dias Fr John Vas, chapline and incharge of Fr Mullers Homeopathy College Deralakatte, Fr J B Saldanha, spiritual director of Catholic Sabha Central and PRO of diocese of Mangalore, Alwyn D’Souza president Catholic Sabha Central, Wilma Monteiro secretary Catholic Sabha Central, Steevan Rodrigues president Catholic Sabha Episcopal City Varado, Ashok Pinto vice president and Avitha Pinto secretary Parish Council Bejai Church, Sr Severine superior St Angela Convent Bejai graced this occassion along with president Felcy D’Almeida, president and Rose Marie D’Souza secretary Catholic Sabha Bejai unit graced this occassion with their presence on dais.
F M Lobo an entrepreneur and an oldest man of associations, Gretta Rebello former corporator and women political activist, Patrick Braggs, a social activist and career guider, Lancelot Pinto, a 7-time corporator of MCC, a political leader of community, Arthur and Lethisia a oldest couple of the community, were honoured on stage for their unique contribution for society and community at large.
Godwin Pinto was felicitated during silver jubilee for being the first president of Catholic Sabha Bejai Unit.
The chief guest Fr John Vas said, "It is time for getting our mantle and run towards our aim."
Alwyn D’Souza focused on being united in the associations to strengthen the bond between the community. Godwin Pinto spoke about adapting to the new generation ideas, Patrick Brags encouraged to take up public service as career, and Steevan spoke about getting together to achieve the goals. Fr J B Saldanha emphasised on doing things in different perspectives and achieve which are not yet been achieved yet.
Felcy D’Almeida president welcomed the gathering, Rose Marie D’Souza sectetary read out the report of the association in 25 years, Rohan L Sequeira treasurer organised the programme, Richard Rasquinha former president proposed vote of thanks. Jeneviya Andrade was master of ceremony, Gracy D’Souza joint secretary, made the announcements and documented.
The cultural programme and entertainment programme was conducted after the official stage programme. The programme concluded with a delicious dinner.
