Mangaluru, Dec 21: Leonilla D'Souza has been roped in for the upcoming Kannada movie ‘Nelson’ pairing opposite Vinod Prabhakar.
Nelson is directed by Arun Kumar and produced by B M Sriram.
Nelson is a story with a backdrop of a village in 1990’s where Leonilla plays a typical village girl with two shades as a young girl with a love interest in the hero and a much matured character. Leonilla was approached by the director Arun Kumar where she had to undergo a screen test that welcomed her on board to the movie.
Speaking about the ‘Nelson’ poster’, Leonilla says, “There are a lot of emotions hidden in the poster. I am very happy to share screen space with Vinod Prabhakar. The character itself is unique. Working with him will be a great experience.”
Leonilla has showed her versatility with four projects namely ‘Kasagi Putagalu’, Bollywood movie ‘Y’, upcoming Kannada flick ‘Hejjaru’ and ‘Nelson’. “Every director has a different approach when it comes to acting and directing. Every character I play is different from the other and experiences something to count on. Every small experience is helping me in every possible way,” says Leonilla.
Leonilla had to do a lot of research about her character Jyothi for her ‘Nelson’ in terms of language accent. “The character in the movie will definitely boost my confidence,” says Leonilla.
“I received a lot of lot of support and reviews when the poster of Nelson was released. I strongly believe that when you work with honesty and put an effort, it will definitely pay you back. As an actor, you will have to put in 100%. First thing I see in the script is how important the role is, screen time and a good team as well. When I looked at the teaser of Nelson, it was so beautiful, and it helped me to understand what sort of movie it could be. When I went for the screen test, I liked their work and the whole team,” says Leonilla.
Leonilla's hometown is Permude near Bajpe. She was born to Helen D'Souza and Lawrence D'Souza. Leonilla completed her schooling from Morning Star school Bajpe and St Ann’s Mangaluru. She completed her PU at Canara College, before completing her engineering at Dr Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Bengaluru. Leonilla is working in an IT company in Bengaluru.
Leonilla is a highly talented actress who is also inclined towards sports and dance. Leonilla’s parents have been her pillar of strength throughout her career to help her reach where she stands today.
