'Mausam' is Not a Story of Rebirth: Pankaj Kapoor

Mumbai, Sep 9 (IANS): Eminent actor Pankaj Kapoor, who made his directorial debut with "Mausam", has quashed all presumptions that the film is on rebirth and divulged that it's a love story where the couple estrange due to undue socio-political situations, but finally make a happy ending.

'Mausam' is a love story and as the tag line says it's beyond romance. The film shows a span of 10 years. It's a story of two people and their journey. I put the speculation to rest that it's not a story of rebirth.

"It shows how some socio-political incidence makes them to move to different cities. They keep meeting each other in different situations and eventually reunites," Pankaj told reporters at the music success party of the film at JW Marriot here Thursday.

He has paired his actor son Shahid Kapoor opposite actress Sonam Kapoor who played the female lead in the film.

Pankaj also nullifies the reports that he has also given music to the film.

"There was some news that I have composed some music, which I have not. Yes, as a director of the film it's my job to guide my music director for what I want and get out of my music director, Pritam. He has done a incredible job," said the 57-year-old.

"Mausam" is set to hit theatres Sep 16.
