Noida, Sep 8 (IANS): Delhi teams Dhampur Sugar Mills and Maya Meera Sneha performed well to be placed first and second respectively after the fourth round of the team event on the opening day of the Rs 12.5 lakh HCL International Bridge Championship here Thursday.
While Dhampur have collected 84 victory points (VPs), Maya Meera Sneha are three behind.
Maharaja from Kolkata and Young Guns, a mixed team with players from different regions, are joint third with 80 VPs each.
Formidables, another strong contender for the title from Delhi with the experienced Kiran Nadar, who has played for India in many international meets, are joint fifth along with Elusive 52 (79 VPs).
Star Bridge Team from neighbouring Bangladesh, the lone foreign team this time, failed to live up to expectations and are placed near the bottom with 35 VPs.
After 10 rounds of play, being held in he Swiss league format, the top eight teams would move to the quarterfinals, from where the event would be conducted on a knock-out basis.
