Mangaluru: Superhit Konkani film ‘Osmitay’ celebrates 100-day mark at Big Cinemas

Mangaluru, Dec 23: The 100-day celebration of Konkani movie ‘Osmitay’ was held at Big Cinemas on Saturday December 23.

Eminent personalities Albert W D’Souza, chairman of Adel Education Trust, Eric Ozario, gurkar, Mandd Sobhann, Louis J Pinto, producer of Osmitay, Vilas Rathnakar Kshatriya, director of Osmitay, the whole crew of Osmitay joined the grand event.

Addressing the gathering, Eric Ozario said, “Today is a significant day for me as we celebrate the 100th day of this film, and I want to express my heartfelt thanks to each one of you who has supported us on this incredible journey. Congratulations to the hero and heroine of this film. My sincere wish is that more films like this are made to bolster the Konkani film industry.”

Vilas Rathnakar said, "At the beginning, we faced a lot of criticism, but as people came and experienced the content, they truly appreciated it. My heartfelt thanks to the entire crew. Expressing this feeling is challenging, but I sincerely thank each one of you."

Albert W D’Souza said, "To accomplish any job or task, gather like-minded people. In 1973, I watched a Konkani movie in Bombay for the first time, and because of 'Osmitay’, the Konkani community is receiving representation. This movie has been showcased in many states and nations, and the Konkani-speaking community is very small. Hence, we need to unite. Criticism is a part of life, and whatever criticism is given should be taken positively."

'Osmitay’ is set against the backdrop of the Konkani people’s quest for identity, this captivating story unfolds the narrative of migration from Goa and showcases the visual splendour of Konkani’ rich folk heritage, all woven into a tender love story written by Eric Ozario.

The movie is directed by Vilas Rathnakar Kshatriya and produced by Louis J Pinto under the Mandd Sobhann Productions banner, 'Osmitay' features Ashwin D’Costa and Wencita Dias in the lead roles.

The story of 'Osmitay' is penned by Eric Ozario, with Joel Pereira serving as the screenplay writer and co-director. The music is composed by Eric Ozario, Allwyn Fernandes, Cajaten Dias, and Joel Periera. Joel Pinto is the editor, and Balraj Gowda captures the film's visuals.

Notable actors contributing to 'Osmitay' include Sandeep Malani, Dennis Monteiro, Stany Alvares, Prince Jacob, Sai Panandikar from Goa, Gowrish Vernekar, Lulu Fortes, Eric Ozario, Roy Castelino, Harry Correa, Nellu Permanur, Naveen Lobo, Arun Noronha, Mishal Fernandes, and Flavia.

'Osmitay'was released on September 15 earlier this year in Mangaluru, Surathkal, Padubidri, Manipal, Puttur, Beltangady, Karkala, Udupi and Honnavar. The movie was also screened in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Goa, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Israel, Germany, Australia, Ireland and USA.

    Nice to know that Osmitai ( ASMITAI) has had 100 days of its celebration. Congratulations to the entire team. Just wanted to know from some geniuses and masters of this wonder language what is the difference between ASMITAI and OSMITAI. With the little knowledge I have I do understand the meaning of ASMITAI but fail to understand why Anglicize, Asmitai to Osmitai.
