Brahmavar: Confraternity Sunday celebration held at Holy Family Church

Brahmavar, Dec 24: The confraternity Sunday celebration was held at Holy Family Church, Brahmavar ahead of the annual feast on Saturday, December 23.

Dr Roshan D'Souza, chancellor, Diocese of Udupi was the main celebrant for the confraternity Sunday Eucharistic celebrations, While Fr John Fernandes, parish priest, Fr Mark Saldhana, assistant parish priest, Fr Lenson Lobo, Fr Jokima D’Souza, Fr Charles, Fr Patrick Crasta were the concelebrants on the occasion.

In his homily, he said, "For a church to live in love and fraternity, many things are importantly needed. Prayers are very much important in a church community. Love is another important factor for having a church filled with fraternity. Sacrifice increases love among the family members. Let us be thankful and reach out to the other needy members of our church community. Forgiveness is also another important factor which contributes to creating a church’s fraternity.”

A procession of the holy sacrament was also held on the occasion. The procession began from the church premises and moved from the main road of the Brahmavar town and came back to the church.

Donors and patrons were honoured with candles.

Fr John Fernandes OFM cap, parish priest, thanked all the donors and sponsors and the faithful for their service and contributions.

A prize distribution programme was also held.

Speaking on the occasion, Fr Roshan said, "The winners to these various events are the real future of this parish. Many have participated in these competitions. I congratulate the whole parish for such a competitive spirit.”

Michael Furtado, vice president, Parish Pastoral Committee, Asha Lewis, secretary, Gretta D’Souza, convener, 20 Commissions were present on the occasion.

Brahmavar First Vado emerged as the winner of the rolling shield of the different competitions organized by the ICYM and other commissions.
