Mangalore: Ramanath Rai Lambasts BJP Leaders for Self-contradiction

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Sep 9: Dakshina Kannada district Congress president, B Ramanath Rai, accused the BJP leaders of trying to cover up the sins committed by their brethren, by claiming that they do not trust Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He was addressing a press conference held in the district Congress office here on Thursday September 8.

“When Janardhan Reddy was arrested, the BJP leaders said they do not have faith in CBI. They seem to have forgotten that the Reddys had demanded CBI inquiry into allegations of collection of bribe from miners against former Chief Minister, Kumaraswamy,” he ridiculed.

He said that the BJP does not have the ethical standard of mortal standing to organize protests against Sonia Gandhi, berate her, or to burn her effigies. “The Congress has not been shielding leaders from the UPA or its alliance partners when they are jailed for their role in scams. BJP should have taken cue from the high standards we have set. The BJP leaders’ action in siding with those involved with scams is regrettable,” he commented.

He also criticized the BJP government in the state of failing to release funds as promised for maintenance of shrines and temples in villages which are not having proper financial backing. He demanded for releasing required amount at least for those shrines and temples which are suffering for paucity of revenue. He further demanded for the release of Rs 25 crore immediately for repairing of roads in Dakshina Kannada district that have suffered extensive damages due to rains.

MLAs, U T Khader and Abhay Chandra Jain, Congress leaders, Vijayakumar Shetty, Ivan D’Souza, Bondala Jagannath Shetty, Shashidhar Hede, P V Mohan, and others were present.
