Mangalore: Infosys Organizes District Level Painting Contest for School Children

Mangalore, Sep 11:  Infosys Limited in association with Dakshina Kannada District Council for Child Welfare organized a district level painting competition for school children in its Kottara campus here on Saturday September 10.

Children in the age group ranging from 5 to 18 years participated in the competition under different groups.


The painting competition saw participation from 120 students from 80 schools. The event was presided over by Dr Manjula K T, principal, Besant Women’s College. Professor Hilda Rayappan, founder trustee of Prajna Counselling Centre, served as the guest of honour.

Shameer Ali from BGM School of Fine Arts judged the competition. Dinha D’Silva from Infosys delivered the welcome address.

The winning entries for various categories are as follows:

Green category (Age group: 5 – 8 years)

First Prize: Shivani Acharya, St. Aloysius UPS, Urwa
Second Prize: Nidisha Kava, BGS Education Centre, Kavoor
Third Prize: Varsha H, Government Upper Primary School, Kuthkunja

White category (Age group: 9 – 12 years)

First Prize: Kedar Prabhu, SDM English Medium High School, Ujire
Second Prize: Laxmiprasad Achar, Government Upper Primary School, Bannuru
Third Prize: Anvesha Jain, D. J. E. M. Upper Primary School, Moodabidri

Blue category (Age group: 13 – 16 years)

First Prize: Vaibhav Shenoy, Canara Composite High School, Dongerkery
Second Prize: Manishma Manoj, Infant Jesus Joyland High School, Bolar
Third Prize: Shubham Varnekar, St. Aloysius High School, Kodialbail

Red category (Age group: 11 – 18 years)

First Prize: Ramesh, Mangala Jyothi Integrated School
Second Prize: Abhishek, Mangala Jyothi Integrated School
Third Prize: Mohammad Ashif, Christ Raj Navachetan Special School

Yellow category (Age group: 5 – 10 years)

First Prize: Joyus Periera, St. Agnes Special School
Second Prize: Harsha, Chetna Special School
Third Prize: Sushant, Christ Raj Navachetan Special School

The winners of the painting competition were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 5000 for the first
prize, Rs. 3000 for the second prize, and Rs. the 2000 for third prize. The winning entries
will be submitted to the National Painting Competition to be organized by the Indian Council
for Child Welfare.

The winners of the National Competition will be eligible to receive scholarship per month on
year to year basis till the child attains the age of 18 years or completes Class XII, whichever
is earlier during the schooling years. Scholarship will be given to only those winners whose
family income does not exceed Rs. 5000/- per month.
