Los Angeles, Sep 11 (IANS/EFE): Argentine singer Andres Calamaro has said he is tired of singing the same old songs "for the last 20 years" and will try to launch his "own musical revolution" once he concludes his upcoming tour of the US.

The vocalist, who was leader of the rock band Los Rodriguez and composer of numbers like "Flaca" (Skinny), will present his music live in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, Miami and Chicago in five concerts that will go onstage between Sep 30 and Oct 11 on a tour he has dubbed "Still Alive & Well".

Calamaro considered the chance of performing in the US "an honor", though he admitted he can't imagine why at 50 years of age he has never before appeared in that country.

The composer of discs like "Alta Suciedad" (High Dirty Society), "Honestidad Brutal" (Brutal Honesty) and "El Salmon" (Salmon) attributed his no-show in the US to the fact that "nobody was ever interested" in him making a tour.

"No one came to tell me they had sold even one disc there," said Calamaro.

As for his repertoire, the singer said he was fed up with having to satisfy the expectations of his fans, who often go to his concerts more to sing along with the lyrics than to listen to the band.

"I'm a prisoner of my own songs," said Calamaro, going so far as to suggest he might quit singing his greatest hits after wrapping up his US tour.
