Mumbai, Sep 11 (IANS): Producer Pancham Singh is bringing Mahatma Gandhi's journey through an over 300-part television series and Vivan Gandhi, the great great grandson of the apostle of non-violence, says it will surely inspire millions.
The series is titled "Gandhi - A Journey of Mahatma".
"I am extremely happy that such a serial is being made on Bapu, which will show him as a common man, and will surely inspire millions about the events leading to make him a Mahatma," Vivan said in a statement.
The tele-serial aims at showing various new facets of the Mahatma's life, like his family including his father, mother, uncle, brother and Ramba, the maid who took care of him as a child and was a major influence.
The show will also focus on Gandhiji as a child, the time he spent in London as a law student, his stay in South Africa for 21 years and many other interesting unknown features of his early years.
Ashwini Sharma will direct the show.
"I will make utmost efforts to depict originality of the period and the characters, which surely will surprise the viewers," said Sharma.
The serial will be shot in Porbandar (Gandhi's birth place), London and South Africa. Noted historian Rajendra Upadhya, who has researched on the Mahatma's early life for 15 years, is the creative head of the serial.
The show will shortly go on floors in Porbandar.
