From cricket to crime-fighting: Karthik Madhira's journey to becoming an IPS officer

Hyderabad, Jan 4: One would never have imagined Karthik Madhira as a police officer, given his background in cricket, where he excelled at various levels until university. However, personal reasons and an unfortunate injury compelled him to bid farewell to cricket and explore alternative paths.

Karthik earned a degree in computer science engineering from JNTU. Although he held a job for approximately six months, his inner calling urged him to pursue something beyond conventional employment.

Despite facing initial setbacks with three failed attempts at the prelims, Karthik refused to surrender. Applying the concentration, grit, and determination acquired from his cricketing days, he redoubled his efforts. In 2019, on his fourth attempt, Karthik triumphed, securing AIR 103. He currently serves in the Maharashtra cadre.

In his earlier attempts, Karthik followed a segmented study approach for prelims, mains, and the interview. However, during his successful fourth attempt, he adopted a holistic approach. Sharpening his writing skills and tackling numerous MCQs for both prelims and mains, Karthik's comprehensive strategy proved instrumental in realizing his dream of becoming an IPS officer.
