‘Welcome To The Jungle’ opens with Rs 18.75 crore at box office

Mumbai, Jun 27: Bollywood comedy drama ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ has registered a decent opening at the box office, collecting an estimated Rs 18.75 crore nett in India on its first day, including paid previews.

The film earned around Rs 15 crore on Friday, while Thursday previews contributed approximately Rs 3.75 crore. The final figures are expected to be updated later.

The opening is higher than actor Akshay Kumar’s previous release ‘Bhooth Bangla’, which emerged as a clean hit. Directed by Ahmad Khan, ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ is expected to see growth over the weekend and aims to build a strong overall collection.

However, the film has received mixed responses from audiences so far, making its weekday performance crucial. The movie will also face competition from upcoming releases including ‘Alpha’, ‘Dhamaal 4’, ‘The Odyssey’ and ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’.

Trade analysts believe the film could have opened much higher, considering the popularity of the franchise. The film’s performance has reportedly been affected by its treatment, which leans more towards spoof and parody rather than the wider family entertainer appeal associated with the earlier films in the series.

Despite the moderate start, the movie could still perform well if it maintains steady collections in the coming days.

‘Welcome To The Jungle’ India box office collection:

Paid previews: Rs 3.75 crore
Day 1: Rs 15 crore
Total: Rs 18.75 crore (estimated)
