Mangalore, Sep 12: St Vincent Ferrer Kindergarten celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr and Teachers day together, recently.
The school which had a humble beginning in the Valencia church premises twenty-six years back has grown in strength with Baby sitting, Nursery, Lower and Upper KG.
The school now has a new building and huge playground. The celebration started by 10 AM and was followed by the entertainment programmes by the students.
Father Bonaventure, parish priest of Valencia and who is also the correspondent of the school was present on the occasion. Neema Shahir, who is doing her Doctoral research in Bioinformatics was the chief guest of the function. Sister Jessy, the headmistress of the school gave the welcome speech. Mrs. Zeena Machado was the MC for the programme.
The programme started with the prayer song by the students. Father Bonaventure spoke about the necessity of communal harmony and expressed his wish to celebrate all the religious festivals. He was also highly concerned with the welfare of all the little ones in the school.
The chief guest Neema Shahir emphasized on the importance of celebrating religious festivals as it helps to built a bridge between children of different communities and also sow in them the seeds of communal harmony and sense of brotherhood which are essential through out their life. She also spoke about Ramadan, the practices followed and its importance.
The Nursery children performed an action song. LKG students Alister and Farhaan Shahir delivered speech on Teachers day. A Qwaali which was a visual and audible treat to the audience was performed by students of LKG. They also performed a medley of songs. The UKG students acted out a skit based on the popular story of fox and crow. They also enacted a beautiful action song.
On behalf of Teachers day, the chief guest honoured the teachers with flowers. The teachers of the school Nancy D’souza, Zeena Machado, Adeline Soans and. Rosy D’sa did their best to make the function a grand success.
