Udupi: Congress party has realized its precarious position - R Ashok

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (JD/EP)

Udupi, Jan 6: “The chief minister's response is a direct reaction to the assertive stance of the BJP. The CM has commented on the situation involving an ordinary Kar Sevak, and the home minister is also issuing a statement. The voice of the BJP was influential, prompting these reactions,” said opposition leader R Ashok.

Speaking to reporters in Udupi, on Saturday January 6, Ashok asserted that the Congress party has realized its precarious position. “Kharge questions the necessity of this situation. The Congress party acknowledges the strength of the opposition's voice, hence their palpable unease,” he said.

Addressing the orders directed at BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal regarding remarks, Ashok dismissed it as a normal development. “Everything will be fine. Everyone is focused on winning 25 seats. Party activists and leaders are prepared for any sacrifice. A Modi-led government is beneficial for the country,” he stated.

Ashok further said, “Astrologers predict the fall of the Congress government, citing cracks and divisions. Siddaramaiah claims he will continue for the next two-and-a-half years. D K Shivakumar aspires to be the future chief minister, but there are concerns about the lack of funds for development after providing everything for free.

“The party is considering MP ticket distribution, with decisions to be made by central leaders. Talks with JDS about seat sharing are in progress. The JDS has expressed flexibility, with no specific demands. Deve Gowda emphasizes the need for a government devoid of ego and revenge politics. BJP anticipates winning 130 seats if elections were held now.

“A clear divide exists between the Siddaramaiah and D K Shivakumar factions. Three deputy chief ministers would be disastrous for them. Efforts to tie down D K Shivakumar are evident. Siddaramaiah's plans remain unclear. DK Shivakumar might face setbacks from Siddaramaiah. The Congress is yet to decide on the two-and-a-half-year tenure. Concerns about the budget and conflicting statements by Yatindra, other MLAs, and Swamijis are creating uncertainty,” he said.

In addition, MLA Sunil Kumar objected to the Congress activists editing and posting his photo, criticizing them for engaging in extensive false personal criticism. He announced the intention to file a case in court against such false allegations.

“I have repeatedly emphasized the potential of Parashuram theme park as a tourist destination. The government is responsible for addressing construction lapses. Despite numerous requests to rectify faults, no investigations or progress on the project are apparent. The BJP-released funds are allegedly being withheld. The Congress party appears to oppose BJP's projects for popularity,” he alleged.
