Bengaluru-based company CEO sent to six days police custody for allegedly killing son

Panaji, Jan 9 (IANS): CEO of a Bengaluru-based AI company -- arrested for allegedly murdering her four-year-old son at a service apartment in the coastal state -- has been remanded to six days police custody, police said.

Superintendent of Police (North Goa) Nidhin Valsan said that so far the motive of the crime is not known as the case is in the primary stage of investigation.

The accused woman was identified as Suchana Seth (39) from Bengaluru. She was arrested on Monday from Chitradurga district of Karnataka, while she was heading to Bengaluru in a cab.

“After reaching Goa she was produced in the local court, who sent her to six days police custody,” Valsan said, while addressing a press conference.

Valsan said that the accused woman is native of West Bengal and has been settled in Bengaluru, while she is married to Keralite. “Her husband is presently in Indonesia. We have informed him about the incident,” Valsan said.

“She has told us that they were undergoing divorce proceedings. We have to verify this,” Valsan said.

Police said that she had checked into a service apartment in Candolim-north Goa on Sunday morning with her son and left for Bengaluru on Monday early morning after committing crime in the room.

Police said that the incident came to light after house-keeping staff went to clean the apartment on Monday and noticed some bloodstains.

"After getting a complaint from hotel staff, we tried to contact the cab driver, who was hired by the hotel on her request to proceed to Bengaluru. When we asked the woman about her son, she said that he is in Margao (in South Goa) at a friend's house and will stay there for some days. But when we verified the address, it was found to be fake. Then we told the cab driver to take her to the nearest police station. Thus she was nabbed,” Police said.

Valsan said that the body of her son was found in luggage, which was checked by police in Karnataka.

Police said that she insisted for a cab, though hotel staff had told her that flight will be cheaper than roadways.

Police said that ‘estranged relationship’ with her husband is one of the reasons behind the motive of murder.

I prefer that ambitious or career-focused women must not marry. She's a CEO and probably has many men working under her. Hence, she will have massive ego, when husband also drawing huge salary and not listening to her...who knows maybe husband also had affair on the side? It is very common in such situations. Maybe he was always focused on career and not there for his family. Maybe she was depressed for this reason and decided to take away the child's life. The

Because of her gender she knows that she will come out quickly. The first thing required in the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita is that there should be gender neutral laws. Innocent children will not be killed, domestic violence, rape cases and divorce will drastically reduce. Family values will be preserved.

Very true; in this country laws are heavily skewed towards females wrt to marital disputes; many of dowry harrasment and marital violence cases are false, being filed with gaslighting and support from the lady's family with an intention to grab the property and money with the man and his close family at the recieving end!!

In any divorce decree such type of judgement (either parents meeting the child is allowed periodically) is very normal and expected; killing her own child for this or any other reason is not justified and it's a pre-planned murder sans any planning!! Law of the land will take it's own course after a thorough psychological assessment!!

This looks like she was upset after the video call allowed for ex husband... Every family goes through such altercations but degrees differ and restraints... May be it was a split second overpouring of anger over the guy... We never know what has gone through between then... Whether she was wronged beyond her tolerance or anything like that... She should have taken any friend or close relative along with her for emotional support... Everyone will spare no thoughts to blame her actions... But do we realize that she is the one who has suffered most in the entire scene of events?... Husband will have a patient hearing now that she has actually ended the child... But he also seems half or more responsible for this gruesome incident....

@Prakash; trying to destroy evidence by carrying the dead body (it implies) is another big folly, if at all she killed the child out of intense anger at the spur of the moment??

Fortunately the husband was abroad otherwise he would have been blamed for murder. I would agree with Kujumaji that Sharia law should be appointed such cases.

Similar incident was depicted in Crime Patrol in which a married woman eloped with her paramour carrying her child. In that case it was the paramour who compelled her to kill her own child. Here it’s too gruesome, there seems to be no reason other than deep rooted hatred and grudge against her husband, finally vented on the innocent child.
