Udupi, Jan 11: Deputy commissioner Dr Vidyakumari has issued orders for the diversion of traffic on certain roads and the prohibition of traffic on others in the district to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and public safety during several cultural programs scheduled for January 17 and 18 in view of the Paryaya festival. The restrictions are imposed as per the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, Section 115, and Karnataka Motor Vehicles Act 1989, Section 221 5(A).

All private buses heading to Udupi and Manipal from Mangaluru from 4 pm on January 17 should avoid Swagatagopura road and proceed via NH66, Karavali junction – Bannanje – Shiribeedu – City bus stand – Airodikar – service bus stand – Kidiyoor hotel, then proceed via Shiribeedu – City bus stand – Airodi service bus stand – Kidiyoor hotel – Shiribeedu – Bannanje – Karavali junction and NH 66 to reach Kundapur.

All private buses approaching from Karkala via Manipal from 4 pm on January 17 should reach Indrali – Kadiyali – Udupi bus stand, then turn from there via Kalsanka – Indrali towards Manipal and Karkala.

All private buses approaching from Rampura, Kukkikatte, Moodubelle to Udupi should turn right from Mission compound, then turn left from Ammanni Ramanna – Chittadi junction, turn left from Beedinagudde junction, Sharada Kalyana Mantapa junction, arrive at Kalsanka – City bus stand, Airodikar - City bus stand, and return to Malpe via Shiribeedu – Bannanje – Karavali junction – Adi Udupi Road.

Booking agents and bus company staff should not enter Udupi city at night on January 17 and should make passengers board and deboard at Karavali junction.

Traffic and parking are banned from 6 pm on January 17 until 6 am on January 18 on Swagata Gopura, Kinnimulki, Govinda Kalyana Mantapa, Jodukatte, T M A Pai Hospital, Lions Circle, old Diana Circle, Mitra Junction, Thenkapete, Car Street Road, and the adjoining areas. Parking is prohibited on both sides from Kalsanka junction to Vidyodaya school.

Traffic is prohibited from 6 pm on January 17 from Nagabana cross to Jamia Masjid road, Kunjoor Electricals to Geetanjali road, the police outpost on Service bus stand till poet Muddanna road, from Vishnu Flower stall till Jamia Masjid road, Bhasker Vihar road to Jamia Masjid road, Kalsanka to Badagupete road, from South school to Venkataramana temple, from Jodukatte to Betal church, Brahmagiri, near Syndicate tower, LIC road, near Alankar talkies, from Mission Hospital to Lions Circle in front of Mission Hospital, in front of Ammanni Ramanna Hall leading to PPC college, from Trinity PTI college to South school, and Beedinagudde on the road to Venkataramana temple.
