Puttur, Jan 13: The police have successfully resolved the case involving the arson of a motorcycle belonging to a newlywed youth. Likith Kumar, who had recently arrived at his mother-in-law's house for the first time after marriage, fell victim to the vengeful act. Investigations revealed that the perpetrator was a jilted lover, Sandeep, a resident of Ninnikallu Padala in Uppinangady village, who is currently in police custody.

The incident occurred late in the night on January 6 at Mullugudde of Adekall near Hirebandadi village. Likith, who had married a girl from Mullugudde on January 3, arrived at his in-laws' house with his newlywed wife on January 6.

The discovery of the crime was made by Keertan, who noticed a motorcycle on fire some distance from the house while going out in the night. He promptly alerted other family members. Upon inspection, Likith found his motorcycle missing from the shed in front of the house.

Likith filed a complaint with the police, leading to the arrest of Sandeep. Subsequent interrogation revealed that Sandeep, due to unrequited love for Likith's wife, acted out in revenge upon learning of the marriage, setting Likith's motorcycle ablaze.
